Section 65: Service of summon to corporate bodies, firms, and societies

Section 65 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 deals with the service of summons on the corporate bodies like companies, firms, and societies. A summons can be delivered to a corporation or company as follows:
-It can be handed over to any of the listed officers of that company or corporation, such as the Director, Manager, Secretary, or some other authorized officer of the same company or corporation.
- Or, service can be made by forwarding the summons by registered post to any of the officers above mentioned residing in India. Service is held to be complete and effective if the registered letter is received in the ordinary course of post.
The term "company" includes a body corporate, and "corporation" covers incorporated companies or bodies corporate, including societies which are registered under the Societies Registration Act,
1860.
Service on Firms and Associations:
-On firms or associations of persons, summons may be served by:
-Delivering it to any partner of the firm or association.
-Alternatively, the summons may be served by registered post addressed to such a partner, and the service shall be deemed to be effected upon the date of receipt of the letter.
