Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications for Eligibility: Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from an accredited recognized university.
Age Limit (as of the date of notification):
Maximum Age (as of July 1, 2025):
• General (UR): age range: 21–40
• OBC, SC, ST, and female candidates: Age relaxation in accordance with UP government regulations
Application Cost
• OBC, EWS, and UR: ₹125 (₹25 processing fee plus ₹100 exam fee)
• SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen: ₹65 (exam fee of ₹40 + processing fee of ₹25).
• PwBD: ₹25 (only the processing fee)

Pay Level 8: ₹47,600 – ₹1,51,100 o Additional allowances admissible under state government rules

UP APO recruitment process
There will be three phases to the UP APO recruitment process:
1. Objective Type-Screening Preliminary Exam
Paper I: General Studies → 150 marks, 2 hours
Paper I: Law , worth 150 marks and two hours.
Negative marking is used.
2. The primary analysis (descriptive papers)
The mains is thorough and assesses both language skills and legal depth. Six papers are conducted as follows:
• General Education: 100 points
• Complete Hindi: 100 points
• general English: 100 points
• Criminal Law & Procedure (Law I): 200 points
• Law II (Procedure & Evidence): 200 points
• Law III: Administrative and Constitutional Law: 200 points
3. The Viva-Voce or Interview is worth fifty marks.
Assesses personality, ethics, legal aptitude, and fit for the prosecutorial position.

The syllabus is designed to test both general awareness and specialized legal knowledge:
• Prelims – General Studies:
1- Current events of national and international importance
2- Indian History, Indian National Movement, Geography, Polity, Economy
3- General Science and Basic General Awareness
• Prelims – Law Paper:
1- Indian Penal Code (IPC)
2- Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)
3- Indian Evidence Act
4- Constitution of India
5- General principles of criminal law and procedure
• Mains Law Papers (detailed):
1- Law I: Criminal Law, IPC, CrPC, Juvenile Justice, and related criminal laws
2- Law II: Evidence Act, procedural rules, admissibility, and proof of facts
3- Law III: Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, and judicial control over administration
