AmanSehrawat Becomes First Indian Male Wrestler To Qualify For 2024 Paris Olympics

• AmanSehrawat has made history as the first Indian male wrestler to secure a quota place for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

• Sehrawat, the Asian champion, clinched a Paris quota in the men’s 57kg freestyle category at the World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers held in Istanbul, Turkey.

• In the semi-final, Sehrawat defeated Chongsong Han of Korea with a score of 12-2, securing India’s sixth quota in wrestling for the 2024 Olympics.

• It's worth noting that all five previous quotas were obtained by Indian women wrestlers.

• The Istanbul meet served as the final opportunity for wrestlers to obtain a quota for the upcoming Summer Games.

India Skills 2024 Inaugurated

• The four-day nation's largest skill competition, IndiaSkills 2024, kicked off in New Delhi on May 15, 2024.

• The opening ceremony took place at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi.

• The four day IndiaSkills Competition 2024 has been organised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

• NSDC is an apex skill development agency under the Union Ministry of SkillDevelopment and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

• This skill competition aims to evaluate students' abilities across India in 61 categories from May 15th to May 18th, 2024.

• It provides young people with a platform to showcase their talents nationally and internationally.

• Cmde Hemant Khatri, the Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), was honored with the prestigious ‘PSU Samarpan Award’ by Gov Connect on May 14th, 2024.

• The award ceremony took place in New Delhi.

• The 'PSU Samarpan Award' acknowledges the significant contributions of Public Sector Undertakings to the country's progress.

• CMD, HSL, received the award in the 'Other PSU' category, alongside other CPSEs such as Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and IRCON International Ltd in the Navratna category.
