• Dr. B R Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated annually on 14 April to honour the legacy of Dr. B R Ambedkar, the Chief Architect of India's Constitution.
• The day, also called ‘Bhim Jayanti’, marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, who was born in 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.
• In 1990, Dr. Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.
• The Year 1990–1991 was declared the ‘Year of Social Justice’ in recognition of his contributions to social reform.
• Dr. Ambedkar served as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution and is revered as the "Father of the Constitution of India."
• He also became India's first Law Minister and pioneered the Dalit Buddhist Movement in India, advocating for social equality.
Justice Arun Palli Appointed as Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court
• Justice Arun Palli has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by the Central Government.

Virat Kohli Makes IPL History with 1000 Boundaries
• Virat Kohli has etched his name in IPL history as the first player to hit 1000 boundaries.
• He reached this remarkable milestone during the 18th season of IPL, in a match against Delhi Capitals on April 10, 2025, in Bengaluru.
• Of his 1000 boundaries, Kohli has struck 721 fours and 279 sixes.
• He holds the record for the most fours in IPL history and is third in terms of sixes, behind Chris Gayle (357) and Rohit Sharma (282).
• Kohli is also on the verge of scoring his 100th half-century in T20 cricket, needing just one more to join David Warner as the second player to achieve this feat.

Inaugural India-Africa Maritime Engagement Exercise (AIKEYME) in Tanzania
• Tanzania is hosting the first-ever India-Africa maritime engagement exercise, AIKEYME (Africa India Key Maritime Engagement), with "Unity" as its central theme in Sanskrit.
• The six-day exercise is taking place from April 13 to 18, 2025, involving India and nine African nations: Tanzania, Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, and South Africa.
• Indian naval ships INS Chennai (Destroyer) and INS Kesari (Landing Ship Tank) arrived in Dar-es-Salaam on April 10 and 11, respectively, to kick off the event.
• The harbour phase will focus on tabletop exercises and command post drills, emphasizing anti-piracy operations and information sharing.
• From April 16 to 18, the maritime phase will enhance security cooperation among the participating nations, strengthening collective efforts in safeguarding the region.
• The primary objective of AIKEYME is to foster collaborative solutions to regional maritime challenges and improve interoperability among naval forces for effective joint operations.
