Madhya Pradesh Takes the Front Seat in the Center's Green Credit Programme Initiatives
• Madhya Pradesh takes the lead in the Centre's Green Credit Programme (GCP), with over 500 approved land parcels designated for tree plantation across 10 states
• A total of 10,000 hectares of land have been identified for the programme by participating states.
• MP reports the highest approved degraded forest land for plantation/greening exercises, totaling 954 hectares.
• Other states with approved land parcels include Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Assam, among others.
• Public sector undertakings and entities are registered to carry out plantations on degraded forest land and earn green credits.
• The programme aims to nurture ecosystem services and promote non-carbon environmental positive actions.

• Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi has been appointed as the next Chief of the Naval Staff, effective from April 30, 2024.
• Currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Tripathi was born on May 15, 1964.
• He was commissioned into the Indian Navy's Executive Branch on July 01, 1985.
• With an illustrious career, Vice Admiral Tripathi has previously held key positions, including Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.
• He has also commanded Indian Naval Ships Vinash, Kirch, and Trishul.
