APPOINTMENTS

• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment.

• Setty’s term will begin on or after August 28 and will last for three years or until further notice.

• Previously, Setty was the Managing Director of SBI, overseeing Global Markets & Technology.

• The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) recommended Setty for the SBI Chairman role in June.

• Dinesh Kumar Khara, the current Chairman, will retire on August 28, his 63rd birthday, which is the retirement age limit for the position.

• Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh has also been approved by the ACC as the new Managing Director of SBI.

• Setty’s appointment follows Khara’s retirement, marking a significant leadership change at SBI.

Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus to take oath as head of interim govt
