Enforcement Directorate Raids in GST Money Laundering Probe

• Authorities suspect the creation of fake invoices amounting to approximately ₹14,325 crore.

• These fraudulent invoices allegedly facilitated wrongful claims of Input Tax Credit (ITC).

• The total value of ineligible ITC claims is estimated to be over ₹800 crore.

• The investigation is being carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

• Searches aim to collect evidence and seize assets acquired through illegal activities.

• Input Tax Credit allows businesses to offset taxes paid on purchases against their sales tax liability, reducing overall tax payments.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abbas Araghchi’s Official Visit to India and India-Iran Relations

Tripura’s Rangacherra: First Green Village Powered by Solar Energy and Clean Water

• Rangacherra village in Tripura’s Mohanpur subdivision has been declared the state’s first green village through a government-led initiative.

• The project included installing a solar power plant and solar-based water purification systems to enhance rural living conditions.

• The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) managed the pilot project under the Rangacherra gram panchayat.

• TREDA invested ₹1.25 crore to provide solar home lighting and other sustainable energy solutions to local residents.

• The solar plant is connected to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation grid, allowing excess power to be fed back to the state network.

• A solar-powered water purification system now supplies clean drinking water, resolving previous contamination issues caused by high iron content.

• Many villagers, originally from Jharkhand and Bihar, benefit from the improved water quality and renewable energy access.

• Installation of 70 solar streetlights and home lighting has improved safety at night and enabled children to study after dark.

10th International Trade Fair Kicks Off in Kathmandu
