• Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) receives the prestigious 'PSU Samarpan Award'.

• Cmde Hemant Khatri, the Chairman and Managing Director (C&MD) of HSL, is honored with the 'PSU Samarpan Award'.

• The accolade is conferred by Gov Connect, an initiative by ilouge Media, acknowledging HSL's CMD leadership in spearheading the shipyard's transformation.

• The CMD of HSL was presented with the award in the 'Other PSU' category, recognizing the commendable efforts in driving organizational change and excellence.

Uttar Pradesh Leads Transmission Line Additions in 2023-24

• In FY24, Uttar Pradesh leads in transmission line additions among state transmission utilities, as per the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

• In 2023-24, Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (UPPTCL) led with 1,460 ckm of transmission lines, followed by Gujarat's GETCO with 898 ckm, and Tamil Nadu's TANTRANSCO with 753 ckm.

• Among state-owned utilities, UPPTCL topped transmission line additions in FY24, trailed by GETCO and TANTRANSCO.

• UPPTCL's addition of 1,460 ckm of transmission lines in FY24 surpassed contributions from GETCO, TANTRANSCO, and APTRANSCO.

BANKING, ECONOMY AND FINANCE

India’s net FDI declined by 62% in FY24

•  According to RBI data, India's net FDI witnessed a significant decline of 62% in FY24.

• Net FDI inflows dropped to $10.58 billion in FY24 from $27.98 billion in the previous year, marking the lowest level since 2007.

• Of the $70.9 billion gross FDI flows, $44.4 billion entered India through dividends, share sales, or disinvestment, while Indian investments overseas amounted to $15.96 billion.

• Over 60% of FDI equity flows were directed towards manufacturing, electricity, computer services, financial services, and retail and wholesale trade sectors.

• Majority of FDI inflows, about 80%, originated from Singapore, Mauritius, the US, the Netherlands, Japan, and the UAE.

• India is anticipated to be among the top 10 economies witnessing substantial FDI inflows in 2024.

•Indian companies announced over 550 Greenfield FDI projects abroad, showcasing their global expansion ambitions.

Let’s Move India’, initiative

• The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced the launch of 'Let’s Move India,' an initiative designed to inspire people to celebrate the athletes participating in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. This initiative invites individuals across the country to join the movement through a digital challenge on social media.

• According to a press release, young people can participate in a series of regional school initiatives coinciding with Olympic Day on June 23. Starting today, individuals are encouraged to recreate their favorite athlete celebrations or create their own, with the aim of inspiring and celebrating the Olympians who will represent India’s 1.4 billion citizens at the Paris 2024 Games, beginning on July 26.

•The IOC has partnered with Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic gold medalist and an IOC Athletes’ Commission member. Together, they will extend invitations to schools nationwide to join the movement as part of the Olympic Values Education Programme.
