Colombo Security Conclave Welcomes Bangladesh As Fifth Member
• Bangladesh was officially welcomed as the fifth member of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) during the 8th Deputy National Security Adviser (DNSA) level meeting.
• The meeting, which marked Bangladesh's induction, was hosted virtually by Mauritius.
• The existing members, India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and the Maldives, warmly received Bangladesh into the group.
• Established in 2020, the CSC originally included India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, with Mauritius joining in 2022.
• During the recent meeting, member states reviewed the progress of the CSC's Roadmap for 2023-2024.
• The meeting also covered decisions from earlier meetings, including the 7th DNSA meeting hosted by the Maldives in July 2023 and the 6th NSA meeting in Mauritius in December 2023.
• Key participants from all member states and observer Seychelles engaged in discussions on regional security.
• Upcoming NSA Meeting in India: It was agreed that the 7th NSA level meeting of the CSC will be held in India later this year, aiming to further strengthen regional security cooperation among member states.
