Tejaswin Shankar Breaks Indian Decathlon Record in Poland

• Tejaswin Shankar achieved a new national record in the decathlon with 7,826 points.

• This performance took place at the 2025 Wieslaw Czapiewski Memorial meet held in Poland.

• He broke his own previous record of 7,666 points, set during the 2022 Asian Games.

• Despite placing fourth, his total marks a landmark in his career and for Indian athletics.

• Ondrej Kopecky of Czech Republic won the competition with a record-breaking 8,254 points.

• Second and third positions went to Vilem Strasky (Czechia) and Risto Lillemets (Estonia), respectively.

• Shankar had earlier claimed a silver medal in high jump at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

India and US Launch Historic NISAR Earth Observation Satellite

• On 30th July, India and the US jointly launched NISAR, a satellite for advanced Earth observation.

• The mission, built in partnership between ISRO and NASA, marks a key milestone in space collaboration.

• NISAR was deployed into a Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO) at an altitude of approximately 745 km.

• It is equipped with L-band and S-band Synthetic Aperture Radar to deliver precise Earth imagery.

• The satellite aims to monitor land movements, ice dynamics, and ocean activity on a global scale.

• Dr. Jitendra Singh called it a “game-changing” mission, especially for natural disaster management.

• With the ability to see through clouds and ice, NISAR is useful for aviation and marine sectors.
