• The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed on April 28 every year.
• The theme for 2024 is “The impacts of climate change on occupational safety and health”.
• Since 2003, the day has been commemorated all around the world.
• It was an initiative of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to improve awareness of occupational safety and health and to emphasise the prevention of workplace accidents and diseases.
• International Day for Dead and Injured Workers is also observed on this day.

WHO Amendments to International Health Regulations (2005)/b>
• Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that its member states were close to agreeing on a package of amendments to the International Health Regulations (2005) aimed at better preparing the world for future public health emergencies.
• The International Health Regulations (IHR) is a legally binding agreement among 196 countries, including all WHO member states, to work together to prevent and respond to global health threats.
• First adopted in 1969, revised in 2005
• The purpose is to prevent, protect against, control, and respond to the international spread of disease.

• Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been named as an ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Ambassador.
• With only 36 days remaining until the start of the premier global event for T20 cricket.
• The announcement comes in celebration of Yuvraj's iconic feat of hitting six sixes in an over during India's victorious Men's T20 World Cup 2007 campaign.
• Yuvraj joins West Indies icon Chris Gayle and eight-time Olympic Gold Medallist Usain Bolt as the first ambassadors to be revealed for the tournament.

• Sana Mir, a cricket icon from Pakistan, has been appointed as the ambassador for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier, bringing her wealth of experience to the event.
• Mir's illustrious career spans 226 international games, lending invaluable insight and guidance to the tournament.
• The Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier will showcase 10 teams vying for two coveted spots at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh.
• These teams will be divided into two groups of five for the qualifying rounds.
• The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners of the semi-finals earning their place in the T20 World Cup later this year, adding significant stakes to the qualifier tournament.
