Rajiv Ranjan Appointed Vice President of New Development Bank
• Rajiv Ranjan has been named Vice President of the New Development Bank for a five-year tenure.
• His appointment was confirmed by the bank’s Board of Governors.
• NDB, formed in 2015 by BRICS nations, funds infrastructure and sustainable development projects.
• The bank supports initiatives across BRICS and other developing economies.
• Ranjan brings over 35 years of central banking experience, starting with the RBI in 1989.
• Since May 2022, he held the position of Executive Director at the RBI and also served on the Monetary Policy Committee.
• Between 2012 and 2015, he contributed as an economic policy expert at the Central Bank of Oman; Dilma Rousseff currently leads the NDB.

• Mirabai Chanu clinched gold at the 2025 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships held in Ahmedabad.
• She lifted a total of 193kg, setting new championship records in snatch, clean & jerk, and overall total.
• Her 84kg snatch and 109kg clean & jerk both broke previous championship records.
• The victory marks a powerful return to form for the Tokyo Olympic silver medallist.
• With this win, she secured a direct spot at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
• Chanu continues to cement her status as one of India’s leading weightlifters.
Sift Kaur Samra Shines at 16th Asian Shooting Championships
• Sift Kaur Samra clinched the gold medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.
• She secured victory with an impressive final score of 459.2 points.
• China’s Yujie Yang took silver with 458.8 points, while Japan’s Misaki Nobata earned bronze with 448.2 points.
• Fellow Indian shooter Ashi Chouksey finished seventh in the final, scoring 402.8 points.
• In the qualification round, Sift ranked second, and Ashi came in fifth — both advanced to the final round.
• Sift entered the final as the top-ranked shooter, with Ashi in fourth position after rankings were updated.
• Sift Kaur Samra, the world record holder in this event, reaffirmed her excellence with another outstanding international performance.

Global Spiritual Conclave Highlights – Ujjain, 27 August
• Madhya Pradesh hosted the Global Spiritual Conclave in Ujjain on August 27 to spotlight India’s spiritual richness.
• The event was inaugurated by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, alongside Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
• Over 300 spiritual leaders and thinkers from across India and around the world took part in the conclave.
• Renowned spiritual figure Gauranga Das gave a powerful and insightful keynote address during the event.
• The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department organized the event with support from the central Ministry of Tourism.
• The conclave focused on boosting spiritual tourism and conserving India’s cultural roots.
• It served as a global platform blending age-old spiritual wisdom with contemporary relevance.
