Gandhi Jayanti 2025 & International Day of Non-Violence
• October 2, 2025, marks the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti in India and globally as the International Day of Non-Violence.
• The United Nations General Assembly officially declared 2 October as the International Day of Non-Violence on 15 June 2007.
• At the UN, the Secretary-General highlights Gandhi’s teachings of peace and non-violence, relating them to present-day conflicts and global harmony.
• Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat, is widely known as the Father of the Nation.
• He was a lawyer, political thinker, social reformer, and writer, who led India’s freedom struggle through non-violent resistance.
• Gandhi strongly practiced and promoted Satyagraha (truth and resistance) and Ahimsa (non-violence) as tools for social and political change.
• His notable writings include ‘Hind Swaraj,’ ‘The Story of My Experiments with Truth,’ and his work through newspapers like Harijan (Gujarati) and Young India (English).
• He also founded the Harijan Sevak Sangh in 1932, and was named Time Magazine’s Man of the Year in 1930 for his global impact.
SUMMIT AND CONFERENCE
11th World Green Economy Summit 2025
• The 11th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre with participation from over 3,300 delegates representing more than 30 countries.
• The summit is themed “Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.”
• It is held alongside the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2025), enhancing collaboration across sustainability sectors.
• Day one discussions focused on technology, climate finance, fairness in climate action, and youth participation in green initiatives.
• Speakers emphasized the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in advancing sustainable technologies and pushing for policy reforms to meet global climate targets.
• Naila Farouky, CEO of the Arab Foundations Forum, stressed the importance of regional commitments to climate action.
• Nearly 80 international experts from government, industry, and academia are addressing topics like renewable energy, circular economy models, and equitable climate strategies.
• The Global Alliance on a Green Economy (GAGE) is set to announce its 2024–2025 portfolio, showcasing initiatives that support nations in transitioning towards greener economies.
AWARDS
National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025
• The Ministry of AYUSH honoured three distinguished personalities with the National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025, one of the most prestigious recognitions in traditional Indian medicine.
• The award recipients were Prof. Banwari Lal Gaur, Vaidya Neelakandhan Mooss E.T., and Vaidya Bhavana Prasher, each representing academic, traditional, and scientific excellence in Ayurveda.
• Prof. Banwari Lal Gaur was recognised for over 60 years of dedication to Ayurvedic education and Sanskrit scholarship, authoring 31 books and more than 300 academic works, including 319 Sanskrit publications.
• He has trained many PhD and postgraduate scholars and has previously been honoured with national awards like the President’s Award.
• Vaidya Neelakandhan Mooss E.T., from an eight-generation Ayurvedic lineage of the Vaidyaratnam Group, has promoted classical Kerala Ayurveda in India and abroad, leading a team of over 100 physicians.
• His contributions include community health projects like Marmayanam and Vajra, along with practical work on Panchakarma therapies.
• Vaidya Bhavana Prasher, a scientist at CSIR-IGIB, was awarded for her groundbreaking research in Ayurgenomics, blending Ayurveda’s concepts like Prakriti and Tridosha with modern genomics.
• Her AI and machine learning-based Prakriti analysis methods are now part of national programs such as the National Prakriti Testing Program, enhancing Ayurveda’s role in personalised and public healthcare.
GOVERNMENT SCHEMES
Adoption Awareness Campaign 2024
• CARA, under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, is organizing a month-long adoption awareness campaign in November.
• Preparations started on October 1 with online and offline awareness activities across the country.
• This year’s theme focuses on the non-institutional care and rehabilitation of children with special needs (Divyaang children).
• The campaign aims to encourage the adoption of specially-abled children and highlight their right to a family.
• It also works to remove common myths and misconceptions about adoption in society.
• The initiative celebrates how adoption changes lives and helps build loving families.
• Various events like cultural programs, competitions, and interactive sessions with adoptive and prospective parents are part of the campaign.
Tribal Village Vision 2030 & Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan
• On 2 October 2025, special Gram Sabhas were organized in nearly one lakh tribal villages and Tolas to adopt the Tribal Village Vision 2030 Declaration.
• This effort is a part of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, the world’s largest grassroots tribal leadership programme launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
• The programme covers about 11 crore people across 30 States and Union Territories, promoting tribal leadership and community participation.
• The period from 15 November 2024 to 15 November 2025 has been declared as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh to celebrate tribal heritage, pride, and culture.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched both the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan and Adi Sewa Parv on 17 September to boost youth leadership, community service, and responsive governance.
• Each tribal village will establish an Adi Sewa Kendra to deliver essential public services and encourage voluntary community involvement.
• The initiative also uses the AI-powered Adi Vaani App to support communication in various tribal languages and enhance outreach.
• Over 20 lakh Adi Karmayogis, including officials, women, and youth from tribal communities, have been trained to ensure last-mile delivery of government schemes like PM JANMAN and Dharti Aaba Abhiyan 2.0.

Wildlife Week 2025 & Inauguration of Namo Van
• Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the 'Namo Van' in Manesar, Haryana, marking the start of Wildlife Week 2025 celebrations.
• He emphasized the need for protecting India’s rich biodiversity and conserving its vast range of flora and fauna.
• Wildlife Week is observed annually from October 2 to 8 to encourage public participation in wildlife conservation.
• The week aims to spread awareness about safeguarding wildlife and maintaining ecological balance.
• This year’s celebrations are being held under the theme ‘Sewa Parv,’ promoting service and responsibility towards nature.
• The initiative underscores the importance of collective efforts in preserving the natural heritage of the country.
